like to think and write?
Nonformality is a weblog about educational thinking and practise.
To become an author it is of no relevance where you come from: whether you live for or from (formal or non-formal) education, whether you live through it or because of it, with it or despite of it… What matters is that you have something to say, that you like to think and you like to write.
Well, to be honest, it also helps if you are good at any of these.
We warmly welcome submissions from people with a good grasp on education and learning, wit, intellect and a healthy sense of humor. To stand a good chance for being published, please consider the following recommendations:
- Featured articles should be 800 to 1000 words.
- Blog posts should be between 300 and 600 words.
- Photos are encouraged (especially with interviews).
- All submissions must be original works, written by the submitting writer. If the article has been or is being published somewhere else before and/or in parallel, it must be stated!
- All writers must adhere to the International Federation of Journalists code of ethics, which states:
- respect the truth and the right of the public to truth as your first duty.
- defend the principles of freedom in the honest collection and publication of news, and of the right of fair comment and criticism at all times.
- report only facts of which you know the origin; do not suppress essential information or falsify documents. The sources of facts must be linked to!
- use only fair methods to obtain news, photographs and documents.
- do the utmost to rectify any published information which is found to be harmfully inaccurate.
- observe professional secrecy regarding the source of information obtained in confidence.
- be aware of the danger of discrimination being furthered by the media, and do the utmost to avoid facilitating such discrimination.
However, this is an opinion blog, so ostensible objectivity or pretended neutrality are neither wanted nor required.
- Articles may be edited for length and grammar.
If you are interested in submitting content, please send an email to sayit [at] nonformality [dot] org. Your submission will be reviewed and you will be informed if we intend to publish it.
