Hello,

thanks for the reaction. "Cultural Fall", from my point of view is exactly the weakness of human rights, participation to local communities policy making. The upraising of racism and intolerance (altough tolarance is the wrong path).

I completely agree with you when you say that is not that serious to describe "intercultural learning" as something given by objective discourses and parojects' agenda...
What we can do is to give citizens new approaches to deal with relavant issues, and let them acquire their own way to exchange experiences, to strenghten the impact of civil society.

ciao!

Dear Marcello,
thanks first of all for your comment on this article. Can you tell me more about what you mean with 'cultural fall' that you mention?
And yes, I agree with you - complexity is a tricky thing to deal with if you have little time on your hand (it's in fact also tricky with a lot of time on your hands). I think it's particularly difficult if Intercultural Learning is supposed to happen 'along the way' when dealing with a different topics. The thing is that culture is always expressed through something as well so in order to deal with culture, you need to deal with something else that is an expression of it.
The more I think about it, the more confusing it becomes, but I still think - learning from each other and each others experiences is good, but not necessarily intercultural learning. To me it requires actually talking about culturalisation of minorities, racism, discrimination, integration, human rights.

Hello, Damien. I know to be late, but i just found this weblog (really interesting and inspiring), and came into your article.
Really hard to deal seriously with complexity...and eight days of seminar are really short to have an experience with complexity. Speaking about it is not enough. In our local communities we have conflicts, power, smiles and tears. Millions of them. These are really our schools.
What we need is to learn from the others' experience, to look at the other schools and try to have common ideas. How we can change and be active against the cultural fall we have in front of us?

Probbaly i will copy and paste your paragraph on the form for the next deadline...
